February is often the hardest month for families starting childcare. If your morning drop-offs have been filled with tears, clinging, and parental guilt, you are not alone.
Whether your child is starting care for the first time or returning after the holidays, separation anxiety is completely normal. It is actually a positive sign because it indicates your child has a strong, secure attachment to you.
However, knowing it is “normal” does not make it easier. While time helps, the secret to a settled, happy child is consistency. Children settle much faster when they know exactly who will be waiting for them at the door.
