Life Essentials – Skills for Everyday Confidence
At Woodville Alliance, we believe in equipping people with disability with the practical skills and knowledge to thrive in everyday life. Life Essentials is our new learning initiative designed to build confidence, independence and connection through engaging, real-world learning modules.
What Is Life Essentials Program?
Real-Life Skills, Taught with Heart
Life Essentials is a skills-based learning program created for people with disability who want to grow their independence and navigate the world with greater confidence. From learning how to stay safe in public to understanding your rights, our modules offer practical, empowering lessons tailored to individual learning styles.
Each module is designed and delivered by experienced educators in a supportive and social setting. Sessions are hands-on, interactive, and built around real-life scenarios, so participants can apply what they learn in everyday life.
What You’ll Learn
Modules designed for real-world success. Life Essentials will grow to include six modules. The first two are now open for enrolment in our Bonnyrigg and Chester Hill Disability Hubs. Future modules will cover topics like digital literacy, budgeting, and health and wellbeing.
Road Safety and Transport (NOW OPEN)
In this module, participants learn how to:
- Stay safe in the community
- Read road signs and use crossings
- Plan trips using public transport
- Top up Opal cards and travel independently
- Put their learning into practice by taking trips on buses and trains
My Rights (NOW OPEN)
This module focuses on self-advocacy and personal safety. Participants explore:
- What their rights are
- How to speak up and be heard
- How to recognise and respond to unsafe situations
- How to build and maintain respectful relationships
Financial Independence (COMING SOON)
This module empowers participants with everyday money skills to support independent living. Participants learn how to:
- Set and work towards financial goals
- Create simple budgets and savings plans
- Use bank accounts, ATMs, and cards safely
- Understand credit, loans and debt
- Explore options for renting and managing household costs
Healthy Relationships (COMING SOON)
In this module, participants explore how to build and maintain safe, respectful relationships. They’ll gain skills in:
- Communication and setting boundariesÂ
- Managing conflict and navigating social challenges
- Understanding consent and personal safety
- Developing healthy romantic and friendship connections
- Learning about sexual health and emotional wellbeing
Healthy Living (COMING SOON)
This practical module focuses on making healthy lifestyle choices. Participants are supported to:
- Learn about nutrition and balanced meals
- Plan and prepare simple, healthy recipes
- Build daily routines that support wellbeing
- Make informed choices when shopping for groceries
- Understand the importance of self-care and hygiene
School Leavers and Employment 
(COMING SOON)
This future-focused module supports participants as they transition out of school and into work or further education. Participants will:
- Explore their strengths and career interests
- Learn about different employment pathways
- Build job-readiness skills like resume writing and interview prep
- Develop workplace communication skills
- Understand their rights and responsibilities at work

Program Details
Life Essentials is open to people with disability aged 16 and over who want to build everyday living skills.
Where: Bonnyrigg Hub NSW 2177, Chester Hill Hub NSW 2162 (currently)
When: Weekly group sessions (times may vary depending on module)
NDIS funding: Can be covered under Social and Community Participation
